Markham Canada Day Celebration — Markham
When: Wednesday, July 1, 3:00–10:30 PM
Where: Downtown Markham, Birchmount Rd and Enterprise Blvd — Free
The Vibe: Markham's biggest Canada Day event runs food trucks, inflatables, Carousel, a main stage headlined by Juno winner Jully Black, and fireworks at 10 PM. Onsite parking is free; if you're planning to walk from Unionville GO after the fireworks, know that the Enterprise Blvd pedestrian path closes at 8:30 PM.
Richmond Hill Canada Day — Richmond Hill
When: Wednesday, July 1, 2:00–11:00 PM
Where: Richmond Green Park, 1300 Elgin Mills Rd E — Free
The Vibe: A full day across multiple stages with a midway - Party Tyme Fun Zone, featuring 20 inflatables and an 85-foot inflatable zipline - and a licensed area, headlined by Fefe Dobson at 9:15 PM and fireworks at 10. The park is large, so bring chairs or a blanket and arrive before dusk for a spot.
Vaughan Canada Day Celebration — Vaughan
When: Wednesday, July 1, 1:00–7:00 PM
Where: North Maple Regional Park, 11085 Keele St — Free
The Vibe: Stage entertainment, a food zone, and a vendor marketplace at Vaughan's regional park in the north Keele Street corridor. There's no onsite parking, so use the free shuttles from Maple Community Centre, Vaughan City Hall, or the VMC Library. City of Vaughan
Newmarket Tim Hortons Canada Day — Newmarket
When: Wednesday, July 1, 11 AM–4 PM and 7:30–10:30 PM
Where: Riverwalk Commons, 200 Doug Duncan Dr, and George Richardson Park, Bayview Parkway — Free
The Vibe: Daytime busker shows, kids' train rides, and food vendors downtown, then an evening concert with the Newmarket Citizens Band and Duvét before fireworks around 10:10 PM. Free shuttles run every 30 minutes between Magna Centre, Ray Twinney, and both sites, which beats parking near the Commons. Town of Newmarket
Aurora Canada Day Parade and Festivities — Aurora
When: Wednesday, July 1, parade 10 AM, activities 11 AM–4 PM, evening concert 7–10:30 PM
Where: Yonge St parade route and Lambert Willson Park — Free
The Vibe: The parade heads north on Yonge from Murray Dr to Aurora Heights Dr at 10 AM, then Lambert Willson Park hosts province-themed activities, a pancake breakfast, and 54-40 set at 8:30 PM with fireworks at 10. Dance in the Park — Aurora
When: Tuesday, June 30, 7:00–11:00 PM
Where: Aurora Town Park, 49 Wells St — Free
The Vibe: Burlington band Spoons — formed in 1979 and a 1983 Juno nominee for Most Promising Group — headlines an outdoor dance night the evening before Canada Day. The June 30 beer garden is run by the Rotary Club of Aurora, with food trucks alongside. Newmarket News
Newmarket Music Series: Epic Piano Men — Newmarket
When: Thursday, July 9, 6:30–9:00 PM
Where: Riverwalk Commons, 200 Doug Duncan Dr — Free
The Vibe: The free Thursday tribute series opens with Epic Piano Men, an Elton John and Billy Joel act, with Jesse Karwat opening and food and drink vendors on site. The Mercedes-Benz Backstage Lounge has Adirondack chairs and a big screen if you'd rather watch from the back.
LIVE in the Plaza — Richmond Hill
When: Tuesdays and Wednesdays from July 8, 7:00–9:00 PM
Where: Richmond Hill Centre for the Performing Arts, 10268 Yonge St — Free
The Vibe: Outdoor evening sets in the plaza, with a mix of genres on Tuesdays and open-mic nights on Wednesdays through August. It's a quieter alternative to the festival crowds, steps from Yonge Street parking and patios.
Celebration Canada at Canada's Wonderland — Vaughan
When: Wednesday, July 1 to Sunday, July 5
Where: Canada's Wonderland, 1 Canada's Wonderland Dr — Ticketed
The Vibe: Live music, street performers, and Canadian food across the park, capped by a custom 15-minute fireworks show set to an original soundtrack at 10 PM. Fireworks run both July 1 and July 4, and some rides close early on show nights. Ontario Festivals

Hatch Coffee — Markham Hatch is an independent specialty coffee roaster and cold-brew maker that roasts small batches on site in Markham, with a roasting style its own site describes as "influenced by the lighter Scandinavian/Nordic roasters." HatchcraftedLcgfoods
Founder Alfonso Tupaz started roasting by hand on a homemade machine while working in West Africa, incorporated Hatch after returning to Canada in 2015, and moved into the current facility in the middle of 2015 — starting with a single product, cold brew. The 802 Cochrane Drive site now houses roasting, green-coffee imports, and beverage co-packaging for private-label brands. Hatch runs as a full-service roastery, supplying equipment, training, and beans to independent cafés, so you may have had their coffee around the GTA without knowing the source. Building a deck this summer? Check the ravine rule first In York Region a residential deck needs a building permit once its walking surface sits more than 600 mm (about 24 inches) above grade, and Markham specifically exempts only decks under 600 mm "at all locations." The catch most homeowners miss: if your lot backs onto a valley, stream, or wetland, the Toronto and Region Conservation Authority regulates that land under Ontario Regulation 41/24, and — in TRCA's own words — "your municipality cannot legally issue a building permit until a TRCA permit or clearance has been obtained." That can add weeks, so before you order lumber, run your address through TRCA's Regulated Area Search at trca.ca/planning-permits and, if you're clear, file the deck permit with your municipality's building department. 📍 AROUND THE REGION
Markham: The pedestrian walkway on Enterprise Blvd between University Blvd and André De Grasse St closes July 1 from 8:30 to 11:30 PM around the Canada Day fireworks. Check markham.ca/CanadaDay for the parking and road map.
Vaughan: Pine Valley Drive between Highway 7 and Langstaff Road is under road rehabilitation through the fall, with lane restrictions expected. Check york.ca for the construction schedule.
Newmarket: Timothy Street between Doug Duncan Drive and Cedar Street closes each Thursday evening from July 9 to August 20 for the Newmarket Music Series. Full details at newmarket.ca.
